Who doesn’t love the Christmas board games and the spirit of Christmas? I have some family traditions I love doing at Christmas time, and while I don’t have a lot of Christmas board games, I do love playing these family classics.

Candy Land The Grinch
- Players: 2–4
- Age Rating: 5+ .
- Game Time: 30+ minute
How to Play Candy Land The Grinch
Players take turns drawing colourful cards that send them along a whimsical path through Who-ville. As you move, you pass familiar landmarks like Cindy-Lou Who’s home or Max’s doghouse, sliding along holiday-themed paths and sledding hills. First to reach the Grinch’s cave — and warm his heart — wins.
This game is ideal for young kids and families because of its simple rules, cheerful vibe, and a holiday twist that makes travelling through Who-ville feel magical.

Flip 7 Grinch Edition
- Players: 3 or more
- Age Rating: 8+
- Game Time: 20+ minutes
How to Play Flip 7 Grinch
Everyone gets dealt cards one by one, trying to build a row of “Whos.” Each card has a number, and the goal is to avoid drawing a second card with the same number of Whos — if you do, you bust and get no points that round. Score is based on the number of Whos you collect. First player to reach 200 points wins.
This one’s great when you want a shorter game that still involves strategy and risk—fun for kids and parents alike. It’s a high-energy game press your luck type game and also a great party game. Also, one as a travel game can be played anywhere and is super easy to teach. Definitely a family favourite in our household.
If you live in the USA, this card game can be purchased at Walmart.

Yahtzee The Grinch
Hot off the press this year, The Grinch, Yahtzee. I loved Yahtzee as a kid, and I still play it sometimes. But this new version I have yet to get my hands on. The gameplay is the same but with some really cool symbols on the dice—like the Grinch’s white boots, garlic, a cactus, etc.
- Players: 1 or more (ideal for family groups)
- Age Rating: 8+
- Game Time: 30+ minutes
How to Play Yahtzee The Grinch
Yahtzee but with custom Grinch-themed dice and cup. Players roll dice to make different combinations (like full house, three-of-a-kind, etc.), deciding whether to keep or reroll dice to maximise points. After each round, players mark their score — highest total wins.
Perfect for a cozy evening when you want some friendly competition with a holiday vibe.

Operation Disney The Nightmare Before Christmas - Jack
- Players: 2+
- Age Rating: 6+
- Game Time: 15–30 minutes
How to Play Operation
Players take turns attempting to “remove” various items carefully from the patient’s body (or in holiday versions, thematic pieces) without touching the sides of the cavity. If you succeed, you get the piece. If you hit the sides — buzzer! Then next player goes. At end, the one who successfully “operates” the most wins.
For family game nights during the holidays, this kind of game adds a bit of laugh-inducing tension and gentle skill challenge — especially appealing for elementary-age kids and up.

Follow the Magic to Who-ville!
Get ready to journey toward the music and holiday cheer of Who-ville! You’ll join The Grinch, Max, and Cindy-Lou Who on an adventure packed with the Grinch’s favorite schemes and escapades.
As you travel across the land, you will compete for presents and use your skills to “borrow” gifts. It’s a race to see who will be the first to reach the village and discover the true meaning of Christmas!
How to Play
Playing the game is simple and fast-paced. First, the active player rolls the die and moves their character piece the corresponding number of spaces.
Next, you must resolve any board actions on the space where you land:
Ladders: Move your piece up or down the ladder to a new space.
Grinch Spaces: Draw a Grinch Card and follow the fun instructions.
Swapping: Some spaces may allow you to swap placements with another player!
The “Grinch-Off” Rules
If you land on a square already occupied by another player, a Grinch-Off begins!
Roll for it: Both players roll the die.
Determine the winner: The player with the highest roll wins.
Move backward: The losing player must move backward by the difference between the two rolls. (Example: If you roll a 7 and your opponent rolls a 4, they move back 3 spaces).
Chain reactions: If the losing player lands on another occupied space, a second Grinch-Off occurs immediately.
Important Note: Board actions (like ladders) happen before a Grinch-Off. However, if you are sent backward after losing a battle, you do not trigger the board actions on your new space.
How to Win: The Final Showdown
Reaching the end of the board is just the beginning! To crown the winner, the first two players to reach the Finish square must compete in a final, epic Grinch-Off.
Best of Three: Players face off in a “best 2 out of 3” dice-rolling battle.
Ties: If there is a tie, the advantage goes to the player who reached the Finish square first.
Fair Play: You cannot use any Grinch Cards during this final battle—it all comes down to the luck of the dice!
